Dinner time

Have you ever heard of a 2 hour long dinner??

Doubt you ever have and if I say I have generally a two hour long dinner you will think I am a glutton.. Well I am certainly a foodie.. And I tolerate and try out exotic dishes myself.

Now coming to the two hour long dinner concept. It is something very regular to us presently now here at BITS-Pilani.
Now the definition of us in this particular article would be me and my friends.. We call ourselves Gults of ME at BITS-Pilani. The basic factor common for us is that We are Telugu and doing our masters in Engineering in different branches.

The winters are starting here and It is pretty chilly here though my colleagues from north India would say that It is just the beginning but basically we are just not so used to the cold living in the tropical lands of South India.
So we guys pack up and start from the hostel in the evening at around 7 and move here to the mess.We chat a lot.Talk about movies (Trivia- Telugus are the largest producers and viewers of films in Indian languages.. Yes and the number of releases in Tollywood which is How Telugu film industry is known produces more movies than Bollywood. Shocking but true.No bias but..) and the stunts , dialogues and songs is pretty common.
At the same time we sometimes talk of our pet project Ashraya which is something built up on our dreams and close to our heart. The concept involves supporting orphanages in improving amenities by supporting in monetary terms by sparing 1 Rupee per day for the cause as well as using our engineering brains in developing ways to improving amenities like sanitation,Education or something simple as providing Hot water.

We talk of various other things.. discuss our problems .. find support amongst each other and just spend time chilling.
And the time goes past swiftly.. and two hours are simply gone by.Then the mess empties out and we start back de stressed and rejuvenated.

How many of you reminiscence at the end of the day that we may be missing out a few of the joys which we might have experienced sometime back?
Well I do.An example is the luxury of time. Now the days are moving so fast and with the hectic life we don't have time for ourselves. Just to think day dream.. think of a joke ,remember old memories from school days and so on..
we have taken up responsibilities as grown up or entering the grown up phase :).Though personally I have not yet started working i have quite a few friends who are working. After the happy college life suddenly a world is thrust on us.New responsibilities and expectations.. Some pretty scary things.
Little time for those meetings and gupshup. They are just left as fond memories.

When we look back when we are older and wiser (atleast in the eyes of the world) we find life as nothing but memories just a string of beautiful and true memories.

So let us spare some time to remember and think .. daydream and build castles in the air. Let us save some joys for ourselves.

If my words have even a wee impact on someone i would consider myself lucky..
